Matt circulated an email to members suggesting a Sunday morning ride out. This resulted in a good response from riders. Some of us starting at Matts place and as arranged we picked up more members at the garage in Barton Seagrave.
The ride itself was a pleasant meandering run following Matt on his elderly Triumph Speedtwin through the country lanes of Northamptonshire and Leicestershire to Wymondham Windmill and tearooms. To be fair Im not sure if the Speedtwin or Matt are the most elderly of the pair.
As usual tea and buns etc were taken at the windmill with the weather being good enough for us all to sit outside by the mill tower. The usual banter ensued for the nextt hour or so before we set off back via an alternative route once again following Matt.
Before too long we pulled into a filling station as Steve thought his BMW might need fuel. It did, just six pounds worth.
This is where my fun began as my Triumph Legend refused to start. After some collective wisdom was dispensed and the seat removed and replaced we decided the battery had died despite having shown no sign of problems previously. One bump start later thanks to our fitter members Dave and Steve and we were off again. I decided to head directly for home making sure the bike didnt stall at junctions and made it just as the rain began.
I understand some of the others went on to Rods for more tea and biscuits.
A nice day out if a bit more expensive for me. A new battery from Tayna ordered over the internet was with me by Tuesday and when fitted allowed the bike to start instantly, so normal service has resumed.
