The Big breakfast successfully tackled

As mentioned in the last posting the Macmillan cancer charity has an annual nationwide coffee morning  described as the "Worlds biggest coffee morning" . Presumably not satisfied with just coffee the locals at Salford, Bedfordshire expanded on this to offer "The Big Breakfast" in conjunction with the coffee morning to  raise even more funds for the good work done by the Macmillan organisation.
Our friends at the Heart of England branch of the AJS and Matchless owners club kindly contacted us and invited us to join them for breakfast at Salford village hall.
Breakfast following a ride on a motorcycle is what life is all about as far as much of our membership is concerned, so the offer was swiftly accepted and a ride to the venue organised.
On arrival at Salford we gathered outside the village hall chatting and looking at the bikes as we waited for the last sragglers to arrive. When we judged that all who were likely to come had arrived we made our way into the village hall to do our bit for charity.
Breakfast was offered in return for a donation  of  £5 per head and very good value it proved to be, good quality sausage bacon and egg etc with tea or coffee. Just as we were clearing our plates in walked Doug. Over a rushed breakfast Doug told of his early morning adventures. He had set off in good time on his Kawasaki stopping only for petrol as you often do with a two stroke triple. After filling the tank he set off again only to come to an abrupt halt a mile or so down the road. It transpires that highly tuned three cylinder two stroke classic super bikes don't run on diesel. After a period of swearing and cursing a few quick phone calls saw  Doug and dead Kwacker transported home where he was able to jump on his scooter and continue his own personal breakfast run..
After breakfast we again gathered outside where someone produced an Olympic torch. Puzzled what to do with it one of the guys tried to fit it to his AJS as a silencer but wasn't satisfied the gold colour was a good match.
It turned out the organisers of the breakfast brought the torch out because he thought  we should be photographed with it and that they wanted it back afterwards, so further thoughts of modifying it to some good purpose were set aside.
The group then split with most of the AJS/Matchless guys heading for he Old Warden air museum and Shuttleworth collection, whilst most of our tight fisted members taking the cheaper option and following me back down some gloriously twisty roads back into familiar territory and then homewards.
A great morning and thanks to Lawrence of he Heart of England section for inviting us.
