Well what a fantastic weekend we all had at Sywell Piston and Props – not only did the weather stay fine, dry and sunny there was certainly plenty to see and do. We had the great bonus of Mark kindly bringing his Caravan on site as the Club Sac Wagon, although we had initial worries as when the bikes arrived there was no van despite the fact that Mark had brought it over on the Friday afternoon…….apparently the pre fix “East Northants” is quite popular in the Classic World ( could it be all us retirees that need to get out of the house) and Mark had been told to erect the van at the rear of one of the East Northants car clubs. The problem was soon solved and once situated our display could be sorted…..and the kettle put on Big Thank You Mark!
For my own part I had a very hectic Saturday as I was trying to see as many club displays, trade stands and events as possible on the one day as Sunday saw me doing the VMCC Navigation Rally on the 1939 BSA leaving my TRW 500 ( along with other members machines ) at Sywell overnight – I clocked just over 100 miles on the Rally visiting 11 unmanned and 2 manned control points dropping three points in total over the whole event. I am sure that others will add some comments and hopefully some pictures and update us all on what happened on the Sunday – I was told that we had a “Donnington Park” type invasion by lots of young beautiful ladies posing on and by our machines, which would explain why when I got back to our stand at around 4 pm on Sunday everybody was sitting around looking thoroughly exhausted…………I look forward to seeing additional pictures being put on the web site!
Some of my shots to give a flavour of the event are attached.
