Six go nowhere in Northants. A ride report from Matt.

Today Sunday 15th April.
After failing to read my emails before breakfast today I discovered I had missed a club ride. Later I felt much better about this when I received this email from Matt.

John and Linn,
Well we really needed a good photographer, or in fact anyone with a camera.
Riders all arrived at Rod’s who led out for what promised to be an interesting ride.....I say promised to be as after all the effort we all made to get up etc we actually didn’t get very far. As Rod and short legs sped out of Orlingbury towards Broughton  the space between them and Trevor who was riding in number three position increased and as they went over the brow of a hill Trevor  (or at least his Royal Enfield) started to imitate someone doing the Samba weaving from side to side as his rear tyre deflated at a fast rate of knots.
I pulled up and shouted I will catch them up come back and then get my trailer.......foolish really for me to say “I will catch them up” when I was on my 1956 Triumph and Bill and Martyn were on their BMW’s but off I sped......eventually catching Rod and Short legs just before Cransley.  We returned to scene and then I hot footed back to Irthlingborough to assemble my trailer and return to pick Trev and bike up.
On return instead of just Trevor everyone was still there with Rod and Martyn doing their imitation of policemen controlling traffic in the city when the traffic lights stop working ......you know what that’s like.
So in your absence we never became “The Magnificent Seven”  instead we were “The Deflated Six”.
Please get up next time – see you at the club on Tuesday night.

I have now stopped laughing and replied to Matt as follows:

Matt:
Well, sounds like I did the right thing not checking my emails till after breakfast.
It seems that whenever you lot go out for a Sunday ride without us you end up with some drama.
At least no one was hurt this time and the previous traffic control experience that Rod gained on one of your earlier jaunts came in handy. To ensure a trouble free ride next time try phoning me first and then  we shall come out to look after you, unless we fall off again.

Just to clarify for any casual reader thinking ...sounds dodgy riding with those guys...Johns reference to Rod's previous traffic cop experience came about due to us stumbling on a seriously injured lady on 12th March after we had a very successful bike ride - see blog "an unexpected Emergency"

Just a big thank you to Matt for the rescue and the other riders for holding my hand while we waited for recovery. It was the valve parting company with the tube.
