Rushden Cavalcade 2015. May 2nd to 4th.

Our intrepid reporter Matt has submitted the following report of the Rushden Cavalcade weekend.

I have just spent four days at the Rushden Cavalcade where the clubs awnings and my new (to me) caravan were given their first official airing. Great thanks goes to short legs and Martyn Penney for helping me with putting the caravan and awning up and assembling my part of the club display.
Arrangements were in hand for a group of members to attend at 4pm Friday to. erect the club tentage. Arriving back on site with bike's  3 and 4 at about 3.30pm I was amazed to see the awnings partially erected - with Amanda controlling the task ably assisted by husband Andrew and Rod, Trevor and Martyn  - by the time the experts, who knew how to put everything up correctly arrived everything was strapped down and buttoned up nicely ...........ok it turns out a few locating pins / covers for the corners were omitted but everything certainly looked the part.
The three official days of the event were well attended by both public and classic car and bike exhibitors (over 230 bike entries) and we had a total of 21 club members bikes on display during the festival, including Rob and wife Sue who had travelled with his MZ from Newport in Wales. Another notable visitor was Terry, one of the clubs founder members turning up on Saturday on his Ninja. Rod Clarke really was taken with it to the extent it became the subject of a great deal of conversation, which in fact still continued at tonight's club meeting ( I missed the main thrust at the time but certainly have been kept up to date ever since).
Worst dy for weather and attendance was Sunday as the heavens opened for a couple of hours from around  8.30 am  - that said we still had five people ride in so with my bikes had 11 on display, I do believe however that Andrew was not to enamoured with his "waterproof trousers". Aiden who was camping over the weekend certainly had a great time and was very thankful for some pretty strong black coffee when he visited me at breakfast time dressed like Indiana Jones but without the hat.
Monday was of course a brilliant day weather wise resulting in ridiculously long queues of cars waiting to turn into the public car parks - people saying that despite over 45 minutes wait that they thought the event was really worth it and they will be back again next year which hopefully so will we.
I believe Amanda and others will also be sending more photos which I wil forward to John so he can enter everything on the web site - please remember to look at the blog and also to add comments to the photos etc.........................of course from this sample of pictures you now know how my bikes are kept clean.....child labour with my five year old Grandson, who had his 14mph racing bike at the show and his two year old
sister.

Matt.
