As I set off from home in Northampton to our meeting point in Wellingborough it was one of those mornings with mist and sunshine that usually turn into a lovely sunny day. Sadly for me conditions hadn't reached that point yet as approaching Wellingborough from Doddington I found myself struggling through thick fog with very limited visibility, I seriously considered turning back but the destination was nearer than home so I pressed on, very slowly.
Arriving at Pure Triumph, I wiped the moisture from my visor and glasses and found Mark, Mervyn, Pip and Trev had already arrived and a few moments later we were joined by Phil on his Street Triple. We hung around chatting for about twenty minutes as the sun started to disperse the mists. With improving conditions we set off to our chosen destination which was to be the cafe in Salcey forest.
The mist had now lessened and we took a meandering route heading out through Grendon, Yardley Hastings and into Olney. From Olney we took the Lavendon road keeping on towards Bedford  before turning right on to a narrow lane to Stagsden. We left Stagsden on the A422 towards Astwood where we turned right on to the superbly twisty Turvey road to Newton Blossomville. At the tee junction we went left back towards the main road out of Olney.
At the next junction Mervyn reminded me he needed fuel so we took a route through  Sherington into Newport Pagnell and turned left into the little lane behind the church which gave us a good view of the 200 year old iron bridge before stopping for fuel on Tickford street. Once fuelled we agreed a short run to our destination would do nicely as it was a bit chilly. Back into Newport and left through the centre toward MK until we turned right towards Little Linford passing behind the southbound M1 motorway services and then into Little Linford,  left here and through Haversham onto Hanslope with its highly visible church steeple, the tallest building in Buckinghamshire. From here its a short journey on to Long street where we turned on to Forest Road and on to the cafe a few miles away.
In the forest car park we Ignored the pay and display signs but respecting the disabled bays, we parked up. Once settled Inside the cafe where it was nice and warm almost everyone wanted tea or coffee and  bacon sandwiches. These were ordered from the youth behind the counter who was a bit slow. Once ordered the food came quickly to the table and was very good.
We sat around chatting for about fourty minutes before Mervyn and Pip had to leave. The rest of us left about twenty minutes later setting off in various directions for home all having enjoyed our mornings motorcycling together.
