Ramsey Forties Weekend.  23rd August 2015

Yesterday saw 8 club members meeting up at the Ramsey 1940’s show and what a great day it was others were attending day two of the Santa Pod Mods and rockers show which was also a great event and one I will try to do a short report on…………………can others please also submit reports and their photos for inclusion on the club site when they have a ride out.
Well as I said it was a really great day despite expectations of rain which fortunately held off to 3pm and even then didn’t amount to much. This left plenty of time to look round and snap up a bargain from one of the many trade stands which were selling all manner of things from 40’s clothing through to believe it or not off road and quad motorcycles which can be viewed at www.orangeimports.co.uk
In addition to the trade exhibits there was the Big Top with seating for 500 where throughout the day there was live music from the era + jitter bug dancing etc. , elsewhere in the show there were other stage events and singers including George Formby look alike and the East End Pearly Kings and Queens plus of course a wonderful display of period vehicles and various enactments – the main one being at 2pm when with some fantastic pyrotechnics a full battle sequence took place on a special roped off “battle ground” this included various attack sequences from the air, mortar and tank involvement and to cap it all an additional attack sequence involving a Spitfire ……….which was too fast and aerobatic for me to capture on my digital camera ……….but I think you get the picture of what a great event this is…………..and in my opinion better than the rest.
If after spending the day you still have the energy free entrance to the adjoining Ramsey Agricultural Museum is also included in the price. Hopefully my shots will give a taste of what you missed and you might agree with me that  NEXT  YEAR  THIS REALLY SHOULD BE A PROPER CLUB RIDE!

Matt.
