FESTIVAL OF TRANSPORT 2013

This is a very local event it would be nice to support it and promote the clubs name, the event is on 25th 26th 27th of May

As time is limited in most of lives i am suggesting  those interested attend on the Saturday 25th.

I have entry forms and will be bring them along this Tuesday evening for those interested

*****WHAT A TOTAL FLOP*****

Never got any forms from Keith so wrote to organiser asking about a late club entry and received a reply stating entries closed etc.

Last couple of days have sent e mails reminding people and that it was mentioned at club night that we really should support this event, I therefore duly turned up at around 1230 today and paid my £3.00 entry despite the fact they tried to screw a fiver from me - clearly I look very young!

Parked up and waled into the "Show" - and a look round reminded me of why I gave up supporting this a few years ago....a total of 19 motorbikes and just 30 cars...quite a few Land Rovers parked up though.... a small craft tent...four or five burger type stalls and of course a beer tent - which allowed people to drown their sorrows at such a poor show.

The climax was of course when the loud speakers blared out that we are now about to commence the afternoon entertainment so come to the display arena ( remeber the programme states (which you have to buy!) events every hour ....the announcement continued and we now have the heavy commercial display for your enjoyment and into the arena came ONE vehicle! The MC then continued and the next display for your continued enjoyment is the ....... followed by oh dear it appears that we haven't got any or maybe the drivers are still at lunc (it was now 3pm).

I met several people I knew (non of which were motorcyclists) and all were complaining and vowing to never go again several made complaints at the Event Control were told well the problem is there are other events taking place in the area and no you can't have a refund.

Local event or not I don't think it is worth bothering with - Perhaps in fact we should try and get a club entry to the Kettering Rally which takes place later in the year at Woodford, I will try and make some enquiries.

If any one is still planning to visit tomorrow or Monday hope you have a better experience than I had today. I will be off to support Chris SAunders and the EACC at Bosworth Gliding Club tomorrow.

The event at Earls Barton I found refreshingly free of market stalls and was a very nice to watch in comfort and look round with ease at the exhibits ideal for families more to do with vehicles than beer.

Following on from the above went to Wheels within Wheels event yesterday - A good ride out just three of us,Martin (Ninja man) Rod and me on the way out but also joined by Mark on the return journey. Event was rather poorly attended by EACC members but a good display by Triumph Meridan section and some interesting machines (I will try and get pictures to JR).

On return home I received the following e mail from Melvin regrarding the fact that he and I believe others went to Earls Barton .......... now being the honest person and trusting person that I am - I am very pleased that the EB Festival was completely transformed overnight.............my wife however things that maybe Melvin is trying to wind me up, but I guess I will never know as I am certainly not going back today!
