Steve Biggs will be leading a Breakfast ride out to the Banbury Run leaving Pure Triumph, Wellingborough at 0845 hours Sunday
Steve intends calling in at Jack Hills Cafe for breakfast en route and then onto Gaydon for what should be yet another good event with 600 pre 1930 bikes taking part (full list of bikes and riders on the Banbury Run 2013 web site), plus comprehensive bike auto jumble and of course the motor museum all included in the price of entry.
If you are going why not join Steve on his ride.

Renamed "Banbury ( The clocks didn't go back in the night) Run"

I was unexpectably able to attend as we didn't go away so after getting to bed around 2am I thought I better set my alarm for 7 30 so as to ensure I was at Pure Triumph for 0845 start. I woke around 0715 so alarm off - quick cup of tea and bowel of porridge and pul bie out etc and as I start getting my clothes ready I notice the kitchen clock says 06351 nothing for it but get Honda 90 out and get an early Sunday paper.

On arrival at Pure Triumph Rod and Trev were there and Rod was talking to a lady on a Harley who had mistaken them for members of her group ( should have gone to specsavers) - she then roared off alone. Steve arrived and off we went to Jack Hills for breakfast where as always Rod on collecting his full engish told everyone that he was on a diet and that he had lost over 15lbs ....Steves reply was "If youve lost 15 lbs you must have really been grossly overweight" ......I in fact have worked out that the reason Rod has lost fifteen pounds is that he has uprated the springs on his scales.

Anyway after breakfast it was off to Gaydon and steve noticed my map trap which I had roughed out a back route way and I was elected to lead.....I warned of the possibility of getting lost and sure enough one of the side roads I was looking for must have disappeared as we missed it but after a great deal of deviation we eventually got back on route .............We knew that as you could smell Castrol R and see a smoke haze and next thing we were in fact part of the banburyt run stuck in the thick of it!

The event itself was as it always is GREAT - we met Mark and Pip there together with Pete Boonham who had entered on his Ariel that he bought at a Pughs Auction I was at last year (hope I didn't push the price up too much) - Pete completed the 65 mile run the first time he hasn't broken down! Well done Pete.

I also saw several old mates who were riding the Banbury - made me hanker after a pre 1930 bike for next years event which is very dangerous as there is a bike auction next week that I will be going to.

The event was a success althought it would have been nice to have seen a few more people attend.........as for me getting lost it was nice to hear Steve say that it wasn't the normal case of keep going round in circles more of a series of interesting detours as we never went throught he same place twice ( so had we not had a destination in mind it would have just been a great ride)
